Prevalence of Different Rumen Dysfunction in South down Sheep in Kashmir Valley

The present study was undertaken to elucidate the prevalence of different ruminal disorders in South down sheep under different managemental practices in Kashmir valley. A total of 734 animals were screened for rumen dysfunction and the prevalence was recorded was 22.04, 25.98, 28.18 and 35.33% at SRS Shuhama, High Land Pasture Sonamarg, Zabarwan Sheep Farm Shuhama and TVSCC respectively. Among the different ruminal disorders, prevalence of simple indigestion was highest (18.04 %) followed by acidosis (9.02 %), bloat (5.2%) and alkalosis (3.07%).
