Abstract

The present study was aimed to screen the prevalence of subclinical ketosis in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Based upon this study, out of 100 milk samples tested using TANUVAS Ketoquant kit, the prevalence of subclinical ketosis was 12 per cent. High prevalence was observed  during  second month of lactation (58.33 %) followed by first month of lactation (33.33 %). During September to December the prevalence was high (41.67 %). Because of the economic consequences, it is very important to diagnose sub-clinical ketosis in dairy cows especially during early lactation.
