Dr. Akhilesh Kumar

Dr. Akhilesh Kumar is working as Scientist (SS), Medicine Division, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izztangar Bareilly. He has started his carrier as scientist, Animal Health Section in 2013 at ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Mediziphema, Nagaland before coming to ICAR-IVRI in 2017. His professional education started in 2001 from College of Veterinary Science & A.H, Anand Agriculture University, Gujarat. He has secured first position in his batch and awarded  Gold-medal including Xceft merit award by Alembic Pharmaceuticals  for securing first position in B.V.Sc&A.H. He has completed his M.V.Sc  (2009) on research topical of amelioration of exocrine pancreatitis and Ph.D (2012) on Canine Cardiomyopathy: Diagnosis and Therapeutic management  from ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izztangar Bareilly in Veterinary Medicine.  He is recipient ICAR Junior Research Fellowship, INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP by Dept of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, ISVM appreciation award (2 times), Certificate of appreciation for organizing WVD, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes in Kisan Mela, several oral and poster presentation awards in ISVM, VIBCON etc. of He successfully complete research projects as Principal investigator of All India Coordinated Research Project of FMD (PDFMD, ICAR), Bioinformatics Infrastructural Facility for Biology Teaching Through Bioinformatics (BIF-BTBI) under BTISnet (DBT funded); Establishment of Institutional Level Biotech Hubs (IBThubs) by DBT under special programme for NE states of India  (DBT funded), Entrepreneur Development, Capacity Building and Survey of Meat Production and Meat Products Preparation in NE (Inter-Institutional Project with ICAR-NRC on Meat, Hyderabad), Evaluation of Humoral and Cell-mediated immune status of Mithun (Bos Frontalis) and Tho-Tho Cattle (ICAR-NRC on Mithun Funded); Chemical Fingerprinting of Traditionally Known Medicinal Herbs and In-vitro Testing against Bacterial and Helminthes Parasitic Diarrhoea in Mithun (ICAR-NRC on Mithun Funded). At present he is working actively in area of nano-science under ICAR-IVRI funded project as PI and also part of various research projects (3 ICAR-IVRI funded) and One ICMR funded research project as Co-Principal Investigator.  He is actively engaged in UG, PG and PhD teachings of various courses. He has conducted 25 training programmes for farmers, students, Interns, support staffs, faculty and under National Diploma programme for RVC creating knowledge up gradation and improving the skills of participants. He has prepared teaching and practical manuals. His innovative research has resulted in more than 30 research publications in journals of international and national repute, several bulletins, book chapters, e-books, e-articles, Video tutorials etc. He has also organized the ICAR-Sponsored winter school on “Practicability, Scope and Future Prospects of Ethnobotanicals in Minimizing Antibiotic Resistance” as Course Coordinator. He is providing consultancy to farmers using several plateforms such as RVP-TVCC, ICAR-IVRI, Kisan Call Center, IVRI, KVK, and on mobile platform such as Apni Kheti as expert member. He is member of SCIREA Journal of Biology, Journal of Disease and Medicinal Plants, IJLR and reviewer for Indian Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Hariana Vet, Global Journals etc. He has mentored two master students and mentoring three master and one doctoral student.
