She has done her masters in Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly and worked on Listeria monocytogenes. She has obtained her doctoral degree from Madras Veterinary College, India and worked on Zoonotic tuberculosis. She is involved in teaching, research and extension activities in the area of veterinary public health and epidemiology. Her present research interest includes food borne zooonotic agents.
She has published several books, research articles and popular articles. Presented various research papers and received international and national best paper awards. She is recipient of National Scholarship Scheme Merit Certificate, Six university gold medals, ICAR Junior Research Fellowship (1995-97), Dr. G.P. Sen Endowment award, IAAVR merit award etc. She has been associated with several projects, guided post graduate students, participated in All india radio and Doodarshan Kendra programmes.
