Professor and Head Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Akola (Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur)
He is currently working as a Professor and Head in Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding at Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Akola, Maharashtra, India since March, 2014. He post graduated (M.V.Sc.) in Animal Genetics and Breeding) with first class division from Dr.P.D.K.V., Akola, Maharashtra. He has qualified ICAR-NET examination in 1995 and did his Ph.D. from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izzatnagar in 1996 in the discipline of Animal Genetics and Breeding.
His research expertise is on sire evaluation, phenotypic and genetic characterization of native germplasm, conservation, study of candidate milk and fecundity genes, breeding data analysis, population genetics, molecular genetics etc.
He is engaged in teaching of postgraduate students of Animal Genetics and Breeding discipline since 19 years and has guided 2 PhD and 12 M.V.Sc. students as major guide. He has edited 6 Practical manuals and has authored 7 books, monographs and Technical manuals.
He has published 108 research papers of national and international repute, one lead paper and several technical articles, 50 popular articles and 119 Abstracts in different Seminars/ symposiums/ conference. He has attended 32 National and International Training/ Seminar/ Conference/ Symposium/ Workshop and presented oral and poster. His significant achievements are recognition of Berari goat at National level as 23rd goat breed of India by ICAR, Establishment of Molecular Genetics Laboratory at Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding, PGIVAS, Akola, Successful completion of 4 extramural research projects as Principal investigator (DBT, DST, MLDB and NBAGR/ICAR).
He is recipient of Best Teacher Award, Best Researcher Award of University, Five Best Paper presentation awards, Lifetime achievement Award etc. alongwith several other awards of national repute. He has received ICAR-IVRI fellowship during his doctoral education.
He is the reviewer of several reputed and esteemed journals, Expert member on ASRB, New Delhi; Expert Reviewer for DBT project; Expert member for Technical Management Committee of Maharashtra State Government; Expert member of Breeding Policy Committee; Expert Member on Maharashtra Public Service Commission, Mumbai etc. He has affiliated with 8 National Professional Associations and societies.
