He has 9 years career dedicated to administration, academics, research and extension. He has served as Veterinary Officer, Department of ARD, Government of West Bengal for almost 7 years. He has been working as Assistant Professor in the Department of AGB, WBUAFS, Kolkata since November, 2016. He started his professional education (B.V.Sc & A.H.) in 2003 from WBUAFS. He completed his M.V.Sc. in Animal Genetics & Breeding from NDRI, Karnal in the year 2010 and worked on Bubaline Leptin gene. He has been awarded B N Gupta Memorial award for excellence in the field of Animal Production during the year 2010. He is instrumental in developing UG and PG teaching and practical manuals. His research has resulted in more than 25 publications in journals of international and national repute, bulletins, scientific reviews, and conference proceedings. He has attended and presented research papers in various national and international conferences. Dr. Datta is life member of different national professional societies. He has acted as Co-PI of different projects funded by ICAR. He has been serving as member of the Editorial Board of various international and national journals. He is question paper setter for UG and PG of various colleges, universities and important examinations. He also provides consultation to master and doctoral students of the university on research design and data analysis.
