He post graduated (M.V.Sc) in Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh in 2002. Thereafter, he served as a private pet practitioner at Delhi before joining College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Guwahati as Research Associate in the ICAR funded Network Project on Swamp buffalo in 2003. During that period he did pioneer works with semen collection, processing, cryopreservation and artificial insemination in swamp buffaloes of northeastern region of India. Dr. Deori then joined College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology, Central Agricultural University, Ranipool, Sikkim as Livestock Assistant in 2006. However, in 2007 he got selected as Veterinary Officer at ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly and posted in Animal Reproduction Division wing of the Referral Veterinary Polyclinics of the institute. During the period he was instrumental in attending clinical cases in the polyclinics, training of paravets and other extension activities of the institute. Finally, he qualified ARS examination in 2009 and joined as Scientist at ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak, Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh. He completed his Ph.D. from Assam Agricultural University in the discipline of Animal Reproduction.
His research interest mainly involves semen cryopreservation, augmentation of fertility and assisted reproductive techniques in livestock. Some of the notable contributions are cryopreservation of yak semen, ovum pick up in yak and associated with IVF yak calf production. He has more than 60 research publications in different national and international journals of repute. He edited one book and more than 10 training manuals, compendium, annual report, newsletter etc. Besides this, he organised different training programmes for stakeholders sponsored by ICAR, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare etc.
He is recipient of Assam Agricultural University Merit Scholarship during B.V.Sc & A.H., IVRI-Junior Research Fellowship during M.V.Sc and ICAR-Senior Research Fellowship during Ph.D. Indian Society for Study of Animal Reproduction bestowed him with S.N. Luktuke Award in 2011. He was also awarded Young Achiever Award by Society for Advancement of Human and Nature, Solan. Besides this he received three best presentation awards in different symposium and conference. He is life member of Indian Society for Study of Animal Reproduction (ISSAR), Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility (ISSRF), and Society of Animal Physiologists of India (SAPI).
