Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Gupta (Ph.D., MISVM, MNMC, MIDA)has 12 years career dedicated to research, education and administration. He has been working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, GADVASU since January, 2007. He started his professional education in 1996 from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Then, he did his M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. from the same university in the year 2003 and 2010 (Admission in 2004), respectively and worked on calf diarrhea and bovine mastitis. He has been instrumental in developing UG and PG teaching and practical manuals. His innovative research has resulted in more than 60 publications in journals of international and national repute, bulletins, book chapters, scientific reviews, and conference proceedings.. Besides, 25 popular articles, 15 technical articles in different training manuals and 03 chapters in a book have also been contributed. He has been the editor of different training manuals, and compendium and souvenir of ISVM-2016. He has handled various research projects on bovine, caprine and ovine mastitis. He has been project investigator of one research project on goat mastitis in northwestern region of India funded by University Grants Commission, New Delhi. As Co-PI, he has handled 10 research projects sponsored by different national and state level government and private funding agencies such as DST, ICAR, RKVY (GOI), Punjab State Farmers Commission, Auyrvet and Indian Herbs. His area of specialization is on bovine mastitis so, most of the research projects are on that subject.  Presently he is associated with 07 projects funded by different sponsoring agencies like ICAR, DST, DBT and RKVY (GOI). He is also looking after one revolving fund scheme under which the mastitis diagnostic kits are supplied to the farmers and technical persons. This diagnostic kit was validated in the field and now it is being supplied to the farmers and technical persons across the country. This has been a mainstay of mastitis control programme particularly in the state of Punjab. He is also in-charge of Mastitis laboratory and has been instrumental in developing a state-of-the-art laboratory for research on mastitis. This is one of the best laboratories of the country in the field of mastitis. Every aspect of the mastitis is being covered by his team.

Dr. Gupta has extensively working on udder health and milk quality. He has worked on the functioning of machine milking and its association with udder health, teat hyperkeratosis, udder and teat morphometry, immunotherapeutic efficacy of herbal therapy, antibiotic resistance and ultrasonogrphic evaluation of udder and teat. He has given impetus to herbal therapy for mastitis in the state dairy farms having worked on this area for about 6 years. This has proven a boon to combat antibiotic resistance and to enhance udder immunity through nature which, in turn addresses the public health. Besides, he has been working on other areas such as production diseases, canine diseases etc. He has also been instrumental in winning a project on establishing DBT-GADVASU canine excellence centre in the university. His concerted efforts have led to the development of several reliable methodologies, and improved dairy farm practices for udder health. He has been serving as member of the Editorial Board of the international journal of livestock research and has worked as reviewer for various international and national journals such as Journal of Small Animal Medicine, Tropical Animal Health and Production, African Journal of Microbiology, Applied Biology, Toxicology International, Indian Journal of Veterinary Medicine, International Journal of Livestock Research, Haryana Veterinarian, etc. He has attended and presented research papers in various national and international conferences. Dr. Gupta has been bestowed with more than sixteen awards/recognition of different national professional societies. He has been the recipient of Young Scientist Award by the Uttarakhand Council of Science and Technology. He has attended three advance trainings relevant to field of Clinical Veterinary Medicine in the year 2008, 2012 and 2015. He has also attended one International School on One Health and one workshop on Advanced Clinical Procedures conducted by Professors of University of Saskatchewan, Canada.

He has guided 02 MVSc students and currently 02 students are working under him. His students have worked on caprine mastitis, herbal therapy in mastitis, antibiotic resistance, teat disinfection and udder and teat ultrasonography. He has been in the advisory committees of more than 12 MVSc students and 03 PhD students. Being an expert of Veterinary Medicine and associated with prestigious veterinary university, he also performs clinical consultancy duty in large and small animal clinics of the institute and simultaneously imparting clinical training to under graduate and post graduate students. He has got expertise on different diagnostic techniques such as endoscopy, large animal ultrasonography. He has been involved in designing UG and PG syllabi and organization of various training programs for field veterinary officers. As course coordinator, he has  organized one 21 day ICAR sponsored summer School in 2013 and one 8 day Model Training Course sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers welfare, GOI for VOs from across the country in 2015. He has also conducted 34th Annual Convention and National Symposium of Indian Society of Veterinary Medicine as Treasurer and member of different committees in the year 2016, for which he was honored by the society in Thirunelvelli (T.N.). He has delivered several lectures in the refresher training courses for VOs and lectures on various channels such as DD Kisan, Zee, Fastway, Punjabi bani Channel.

He has been external examiner and question paper setter for UG and PG of various colleges and universities such as TNUVAS, Chennai, RAJUVAS, Bikaner, LUVAS, Hisar, DUVASU, Mathura, CSKHAU, Palampur, SKUAST-J, SKUAST-K, MPVU, Jabalpur OUAT, Bhubaneshwar, GBPUA&T, Pantnagar etc. He has been continuously giving training to farmers and technical persons in the field of udder health management. To him, equally important has been the effective transfer of his outstanding research findings to farmers. He conducted extensive fundamental and field studies for harnessing economically-viable sustainable milk production, enhancing udder immunity, antibiotic resistance and implementation of mastitis control programme. At present, he has been imparting clinical training to the undergraduate and postgraduate students at one of the best veterinary universities of India and pursuing research work in the field of udder health and milk quality to provide substantial aid to the livestock farmers and to the end users.
