Dr. B. Puvarajan

M.V.Sc., Ph.D.,(Veterinary Microbiology) PGDEVP Associate Professor Department of Veterinary Microbiology Veterinary College and Research Institute Orathanadu, TANUVAS, INDIA

He started his professional education in 1995 from Madras Veterinary College, Chennai ,Tamilnadu, India. He completed his M.V.Sc at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, Tamilnadu in the year 1998. He has received Gold medal for Poultry diseases in MVSc. He worked  as Veterinary Assistant surgeon in Animal Husbandry department from 1998-2000.Later   he joined as Assistant Professor and served as Unit Officer and Head, Dept.of Animal Husbandry at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, Tamilnadu Agricultural Iniversity, Tamilnadu. During 2000-2004, handled Animal Husbandry courses for Agricultural students, Horticultural students and Home science students in addition to management of dairy farm, goat farm, sheep farm and poultry and piggery single handedly with more revenue generation and pilot models for entrepreneurial education for UG students  for the University. He joined Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University as Assistant Professor in the year 2005 at SBRS ,Ootacamund and worked as AP in VUTRC,Madurai, Dindigul, VCRI,Namakkal until 2013 and presently as Associate Professor ,Dept.of   Vety.Microbiology at VCRI, Orathanadu. He has received Padma Sri B.V.Rao Award for Best Research on Poultry diseases for the year 2011 and an appreciation from Hon.Vice Chancellor for conduct of Anti-Rabies Camp at Namakkal district Union 2011. He completed his PhD at at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, Tamilnadu in the year 2013. He has to the credit of establishing  a separate department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology at VCRI,Orathanadu ,a new constituent college of TANUVAS in 2013. He received Best Thesis Award -Dr Nanjappa Gounder Award on Poultry Diseases 2013 for his PhD.  He has 14 years of experience in the field of research, teaching and extension. He handled two research projects as Principal Investigator funded by State/ Central Government. He has received 6  Scientific Oral Presentation Awards in various Scientific conferences of national and International conducted all over India attended for the past 14 years and one

Outstanding Award for Presentation of One Heath Concept at national Conference conducted at Kerala Veterinary University, Pookode, Kerala in 2015 November. He has been appreciated as Best Scientific Reviewer of International Journal of Livestock Research during 2017. He is known for his splendid writing skills in regional language Tamil and has written more than 125 popular articles on Animal health and management  and won best Popular article Award for Regional language(Tamil)by Agricultural Scientific society, New Delhi  for the years-2015,2016,2017. He has adjudged  Best  Article award for farmers by Kalnadai Arviayal Tamil Iyakkam(KATI-2019) in the International Tamil Conference conducted by Veterinary Scientists at Chennai on 19.02.2019. He has 64 research publication which includes Research papers(49), abstract(33),manuals(12),pamphlets(44) and four books and 12 booklets. He has acted as External Examiner and paper setter for UG and PG for Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala and Pondicherry Veterinary Universities during his career .Presently working on molecular diagnosis of viral diseases of canine and promoting one health in eradication of zoonotic diseases with special reference to Rabies in the rural areas for the farming community and public. He has organized two workshop and eight training programmes  for Ethnoveterinary herbal project to a tune of 13.00crores as Training Coordinator for Field veterinarians of Cauvery Delta region during 2018-19. He is involved in the research on various viral origin diseases of economic importance to farmers of Cauvery Delta Zone(CDZ) and has a rich experience in field oriented disease diagnosis and currently working on respiratory origin diseases of  small ruminants and its management for the welfare of nomadic shepherds in addition to  UG teaching and administration . He acted as advisory committee member for 3 PG  students and chairman for one faculty on Ethno Veterinary Practices (Post Graduation). He has been chairman of Editorial committee (Compendium) for student seminar and various committees in organizing College Day, Hostel day and symposiums and seminars.
