Dr. K. Y. Deshpande

MVSc., PhD (Animal Nutrition) Assistant Professor and Head Department of Animal Nutrition, Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Akola (Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur) India

He graduated (BVSc. & AH) in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry with first class division from MAFSU, Nagpur, Maharashtra. He successfully completed his MVSc in Animal Nutrition from TANUVAS, Chennai. He has qualified ICAR-NET examination in 2008 and did his Ph.D. from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izzatnagar in 2012 in the discipline of Animal Nutrition. He also qualified ICAR-SRF examination 2009.

He earlier worked as Senior Research Fellow in Emeritus Scientist Scheme to Dr. U.R. Mehra w.e.f. September 2006 to June 2008. He also worked as Subject Matter Specialist/Assistant Professor (Animal Science) between May 2010 to October 2013.

His research expertise is in the area of ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition and also he completed 05 projects in Poultry Nutrition etc.

He is engaged in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students of Animal Nutrition discipline since 05 years and has guided 09 M.V.Sc. students as major guide. He has edited 6 Practical manuals and has authored 05 book chapters, monographs and Technical manuals.

He has published 15 research papers of national and international repute, several technical articles, 20 popular articles and 45 Abstracts in different Seminars/ symposiums/ conference. He has attended 16 National and International Training/ Seminar/ Conference/ Symposium/ Workshop and presented oral and poster.

He is recipient of Best Paper Award (TNAU-2006), Best Poster Award (ANA-2006) etc. alongwith several other awards of national repute. He has received ICAR-IVRI fellowship during his doctoral education.

He is the reviewer of several reputed and esteemed journals. He is affiliated with 6 National Professional Associations and societies.

He is regular participant in radio and TV talks on guiding farmers regarding animal nutrition and feeding management issues.
